How often is your family movie night? Is it every Friday or Saturday night? Is it once a month or once in a blue moon? 

Whether or not yours is fond of watching flicks or Netflix, it’s always a great idea to have a handy list of good movies that you can watch anytime you want to. #1 E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

An all-time family favorite,E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was directed by Steven Spielberg. It’s about a young boy who befriends an extraterrestrial creature who got stranded on Earth. Together, the two built a friendship out of respect, love, and honor, but not without facing numerous challenges along the way.

#2 Karate Kid

Released in 1984, the movie is about a young boy named Danny who was constantly bullied in a new town in the West Coast. He trained to be a karate kid under the tutelage of Mr. Miyagi and learned the importance of peace, acceptance, and power from within. 

It’s the perfect movie to teach young boys and girls the importance of accepting people and of using skills to promote peace and friendship, not violence. 

#3 Night at the Museum Trilogy 

This fantasy-comedy trilogy stars Ben Stiller, a job applicant at the New York City's American Museum of Natural History. During one of his first few nights, he discovers that the animals displayed in the museum come to life. 

This is a fun flick that packs a lot of action and comedy. Everybody in the family will surely have a great time watching this movie.

#4 Happy Feet

Happy Feetis a computer-animated comedy film about a young penguin, Mumble. Unlike most penguins, Mumble cannot sing or carry a simple tune. Instead, he dances! Ridiculed by the other penguins around him, Mumble embarks on a personal journey to find himself.Happy Feet is a story about self-acceptance and tolerance for other people. 

#5 The NeverEnding Story

The 1984 English film was based ona novel,The NeverEnding Story, published by Michael Ende in 1979. The story is about a shy, bullied boy named Bastian Bux. Bastian usually hides from his bullies in an old bookstore where he began readingThe NeverEnding Story even against the advice of the grumpy bookstore owner. 

While reading the said book, Bastian meets mysterious and powerful creatures from the book and has the most exhilarating adventures in the life of a young boy.

#6 The Harry Potter Saga

Based in J.K. Rowling’s seven fantasy novels, the Harry Potter saga is one of the biggest films in recent history. The story follows a young wizard named Harry who, together with his best friends Ron and Hermoine, must fight off the vilest of wizards, Voldemort, and his dark forces. 

This popular movie choice teaches kids courage, bravery, and perseveranceーnot to mention lots of magic spells and incantations.

#7 The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

This 2001 drama-comedy film features four best friendsーLena, Carmen, Tibby, and Bridgetーwho must spend their first summer away from one another. Thanks to a pair of pants that magically fits them all perfectly, they agreed to share their summer by passing around the said pants.

This movie is perfect for young girls in the family who are starting to discover and build lifelong friendships. 

#8 Wonder

Released in 2017,Wonderleans more on heavy drama with a little comedy and loads of lessons good for every member of the family.

In the movie, Auggie is a boy with Treacher Collins syndrome. He tries to fit in his new school and tries to make friends. His difference, however, becomes a challenge, but Auggie wins in the end, delivering a line that says, “Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle.”

#9 Jurassic Park

No kid should ever not know Steven Spielberg’sJurassic Park,one of the most ambitious and highly acclaimed movies of all time. Kids who love all things dino will love this film series and adults are sure to get hooked no matter how many times they’ve seen this flick.

#10 Home Alone

In 1990, Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) brough more warmth and laughter to the Christmas season withHome Alone.While his family hurriedly leaves the US for their much-anticipated Christmas trip overseas, eight-year-old Kevin was unintentionally left all alone at home. Yikes!

Like a true brave boy, however, Kevin didn’t only look after himself, but he also took care of their house, fighting off burglars and thieves using skills he learned here and there.

#12 The Sandlot

Now a cult favorite, this early nineties baseball comedy revolves around a young boy named Smalls who was desperate to make friends with the boys in their neighborhood. To win new friends over, he must prove that he was great at the sport.

However, as luck would have it, he hit a specially autographed baseball and must retrieve it or die trying. This challenge brought the boys together and earned Smalls a place in baseball comedy forever.

#13 The Chronicles of Narnia

A fantasy series by C.S. Lewis,The Chronicles of Narniarevolves around four siblings who discover a magical world inside a huge antique wardrobe. There they meet every creature imaginable and learn to protect each other from the evil witch.

#14 Nanny McPhee

A widower hires a nanny to look after his unruly children. Unbeknownst to him, the nanny he hired, Nanny McPhee, looks hideous and is quite the disciplinarian. With a little magic and lots of disciplining the kids, Nanny McPhee succeeds where many other nannies have failed. 

#15 Tangled 

Walt Disney Pictures breathes new life to the story of Rapunzel, the girl with long golden hair locked up in a tower by an evil witch who wanted the power of her hair all to herself.

InTangled, Rapunzel’s curiosity drives her to leave the tower and go where a thousand lanterns light the sky, which, unbeknownst to her, is for her honor.
